Flag Raising Ceremony
All veterans and their families who live in Washington, Osage and Nowata Counties are invited to attend a special flag raising ceremony on Tuesday, March 29, to commemorate Vietnam Veterans Day.
The flag raising will take place at 9 a.m. at the Bartlesville City Center, located at 400 S. Johnstone Ave. Vietnam Veterans Day is celebrated by 21 states to recognize March 29, 1973, the last day in which U.S. troops were on the ground in Vietnam.
The royal blue Vietnam Veteran Commemorative flag will fly over Bartlesville all day, along with the U.S. and Oklahoma flags, in recognition of area Vietnam veterans.
The Bartlesville Chapter, NSDAR a commemorative partner with the U.S. Department of the Defense, is sponsoring the event to honor and recognize the Vietnam veterans and their families for their service, valor and sacrifice to our nation.
Following the flag raising, all Vietnam veterans are invited to join D.A.R. members for a free coffee and cinnamon roll at Weezie’s Restaurant, according to Vicki Stewart, Bartlesville D.A.R. vice regent.

~ DAR Helps DAV ~
Last year our DAR chapter had volunteered to help the Disabled American Veterans with a fund raising breakfast hosted by the Masons. This year we were paired with the DAV for a breakfast on Saturday, July 2. DAR Daughters came through like champs and helped make this a successful endeavor by pouring coffee and orange juice and clearing tables: Deb Cook, Nancy Webb, Katherine Kuehn and her daughter (a CAR member), Dona Robinson, Linda Quinn and her husband, Sherrill Yates, Vicki Nett, and Wilda Wise. The DAV and Masons were grateful for our help.
